ONION CHUTNEY II

INGREDIENTS:

Big onions  2

Tomato  1  Small

Urad dhal  2  tbsp

Bengal gram  1/2  tbsp

Red chillies   2

Salt

Sugar  1  tsp

Mustard seeds  1/2  tsp

Asafoetida  A pinch

PREPARATION METHOD:

Add a tsp of oil to a hot pan and add bengal gram, urad dhal and red chillies.

Fry till urad dhal turns golden.

Transfer it to the mixie jar and let it cool.

Cut onion and tomato into big pieces.

Add  a tsp of oil to the hot pan and add onion and fry in high heat for two minutes.

Then add tomato and fry for a minute and switch off the stove.

Let it cool.  Dry grind the dhal coarsely with salt.

When the onion is cool, add it to the mixie jar and grind with little water and sugar.

Transfer it to a bowl and season it with mustard seeds and asafoetida.

This chutney goes well with idly, dosa and adai.
