TOMATO CHUTNEY FOR THEPLA
|INGREDIENTS:
Tomato 2 (Medium size)
Small onions 10
Garlic flakes 4 to 5
Bengal gram 1 tbsp
Urad dhal 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Red chillies 2
Aniseeds 1/2 tsp
Clove 1 or 2
Tamarind paste 1/2 tsp
Jaggery 2 tsp
Salt
PREPARATION METHOD:
Cut tomatoes into big pieces.
Add 1 tsp oil to a hot pan.
Add bengal gram, urad dhal, red chillies and cumin seeds.
Add aniseeds and clove.
Fry till bengal gram turns golden.
Add this to a mixie jar and dry grind coarsely.
Add 1 tbsp oil to the pan and add garlic and onions.
Fry in high heat for a minute and reduce the heat to minimum.
Fry for two more minutes and add tomato pieces and fry in high heat for 2 minutes.
Fry till tomato becomes soft, in minimum heat and switch off the heat.
When it is cool add it to the mixie and add salt, tamarind and jaggery.
Grind along with the powder with little water, coarsely.
Serve along with thepla (vendhaya keerai chapathi).
