VIOLET CABBAGE CURRY
|INGREDIENTS:
Cut violet cabbage 1 cup
Peeled broken green gram 2 tbsp
Grated coconut 1 tbsp
Green chilly 1 (Long)
Curry leaves and coriander leaves A few
Salt
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Urad dhal 1 tsp
PREPARATION METHOD:
Wash well peeled broken green gram and soak it in water for an hour.
Drain the excess water from the gram.
Pressure cook cabbage and peeled broken green gram with little water, separately.
Add 1 tbsp oil to a hot pan.
Add mustard seeds and urad dhal and fry till urad dhal turns golden.
Add cut chilly and curry leaves and fry for a minute.
Add cooked cabbage, dhal and sufficient salt.
Fry for a minute in high heat.
Reduce the heat to minimum and add coconut and cut coriander leaves.
Mix well and serve hot with white rice.
PS: As the gram is soaked in water for an hour, very little water is sufficient for cooking.
The cooked gram should be separate.
