RAW BANANA CURRY (TYPE II)

Raw Banana Curry  Type II
INGREDIENTS:
1.  Raw banana 1
2.  Tamarind paste  1 tbsp
3.  Urad dhal 1 tsp
4.  Bengal gram 1 tsp
5.  Coriander seeds 1 tsp
6.  Red chillies  2
7.  Jaggery  2 tsp
8.  Curry leaves  A few
9.  Salt
10.  Mustard seeds  1/2 tsp
11.  Asafoetida  1/4 tsp
12. Turmeric powder  1/2 tsp 
PREPARATION METHOD:
a.  Peel raw banana and cut it into small (1/2 inch) pieces.
b.  Put it in water.
c.  Add one tsp oil to a hot pan.
d.  Add bengal gram, urad dhal, coriander seeds and chillies.
e.  Fry till golden and let it cool, then dry grind it coarsely.
f.  Add 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and asafoetida.
g.  Drain the water and add raw banana pieces and fry in high heat.
h.  Fry for two minutes and add tamarind paste, salt and jaggery.
i.  Add curry leaves, turmeric powder and sufficient water and mix it.
j.  Close it with lid and let it cook in medium to low heat.
k.  Turn the pieces one or two times gently.
l.  When the pieces become soft add the ground powder.
m. Remove from heat and serve it with hot white rice. 
The water added should be just sufficient to cook.
