Samai, Thinai Adai
Ingredients:
Samai 1/2 cup (Samai)
Thinai 1/2 cup (Italian Millet)
Tuar dhal 1/4 cup
Dehusked broken green gram 1/4 cup
Urad dhal 2 tbsp
Red chillies 4
Grated coconut 1/4 cup
Cumin seeds 1 and 1/2 tsp
Finely chopped onions 1/4 cup
Curry leaves A few
Salt
Preparation Method:
Soak samai, thinai,green gram, tuar dhal and urad dhal together for an hour.
Grind it along with red chillies, curry leaves, cumin seeds and salt.
Add onions and grated coconut to the batter and mix well.
Make adai with gingelly oil and serve hot with onion chutney.
Samai is rich in fiber and helps in weight reduction.
It strengthens bones and muscles.
Thinai also called foxtail millets is a source of protein and iron.
It is rich in vitamin B and also strengthens the nervous system.
It is rich in calcium, iron, potassium, zinc and magnesium.
