Varagu Arisi Venpongal

Ingredients:

Varagu Arisi 1 cup
Pasiparuppu   (Mung dhal)  1/3 cup
Ginger 1 inch finely chopped
Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
Black Pepper powder or crushed Black Pepper  1 tsp
Cashew chopped  7
salt to taste
Curry leaves 8
Ghee 2 tsp
Oil  3 tsp.

Cooking Method:                                                                                                                     Dry roast mung dhal  till golden brown. Wash varagu arisi  and mix both.
Add 4 and 1/2 cups of water and pressure cook  till 4 whistles.
For Seasoning, Add the Ghee and oil in a hot pan.
Add cumin seeds  pepper powder cashews and fry till cashews turn golden brown. Add ginger curry leaves then add this with the cooked pongal with salt. Mix well and enjoy eating with puli kaychal and coconut chutney.
