PEPPER RASAM (MILAGU RASAM)

INGREDIENTS:

Pepper powder  1  tsp

Cummin seeds  3/4  tsp

Red chillies  2

Garlic flakes  15  (Cut length wise)

Tamarind  paste  1  tbsp

Tuar dhal  1  tbsp

Jaggery  1  tsp

Turmeric powder  1/4  tsp

Ghee  1  tbsp

Salt

PREPARATION METHOD:

Add sufficient water, 2 drops of oil and turmeric powder to tuar dhal.

Pressure cook tuar dhal.

Add ghee to a hot pan and add mustard seeds.

Add pepper powder, cumin seeds and  red chillies.

Red chillies should be added fully, without breaking.

Add garlic flakes and fry.

Add tamarind paste, salt and cooked tuar dhal.

Add  jaggery and 250 ml of water and mix well.

When rasam boils, check for taste.

Switch off the stove.

Serve hot with white rice.
